A quasi-experimental with one- group pre-test and post-test design was applied in this research. 29 students of a public junior highschool in Tabanan-Bali were involved in this research. Both quantitative and qualitative data were collected through pre-test and post-test close-ended and open-ended questionnaires. Paired sample t-test was implemented to analyze the quantitative data, while the qualitative data were examined descriptively using Miles and Huberman’s flow model. Penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif deskriptif yang tujuannya adalah untuk mengetahui tinggi, sedang, atau rendahnya kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa SMP pada materi SPLDV. Subjek yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 2 Pontianak. Pengolahan data yang dilakukan pada sebuah penelitian ini adalah dengan cara memberikan soal tes uraian kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa yang memuat 4 indikator dan menghitung nilai rata-rata siswa. Hasil rata-rata soal tes urainnya adalah 68,75. The research method used is qualitative research in the form of descriptive research. The subjects in this study were class VIII students of SMP Negeri 2 Meliau. The data collection technique used in this research is measurement so that the data collection tool is in the form of a test. The data analysis technique used is descriptive statistics. The results of this study are (1) only 63.87% of students are able to answer the problem-solving ability on the indicator of understanding the problem, (2) only 44.47% of students are able to answer the problem-solving ability on the indicator of planning for completion, (3) only 38.90% of students were able to answer the problem-solving ability on the indicator of implementing the completion plan, (4) only 27.76% of the students were able to complete the problem-solving ability on the indicator of Checking Back. In term of investigating, the purposive sampling technique was used to select A-Morning class of the sixth-semester study of English Department of a private university in Pontianak to be the participant. The blog was used as a media to do drafting, revising and uploading the students’ writing texts. In both pre-test and post-test, the data gathered shows that the critical-value is higher than the t-value (20.224&gt; 2.145), meaning that using a blog is significant in teaching the students’ writing skill. More, the significance level of the use of the blog is at a strong level since the value was higher than 1 (1.73) where most of the students could beneficially use the blog to improve their writing skills.</strong></p> Almu Bakrin Aunurrahman Ageung Darajat Copyright (c) 2022 Proceedings of the International Conference on Literacy and Education https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 2022-03-29 2022-03-29 2 1 EXTROVERT VS INTROVERT: INVESTIGATING STUDENTS’ CHARACTERISTICS IN RELATION TO STUDENTS’ ENGLISH PROFICIENCY http://jurnal.pbing.org/index.php/icoled/article/view/13 <p>The objective of the present study was to investigate whether there was a correlation between students’ characteristics and students’ English proficiency. The sample was made up of 44 English Education students in a private university in Bandarlampung.A set of online questionnaire with a total of 30 questions was distributed in order to collect information about students’ characteristics as well as their English proficiency score.Results suggest that there was a significant difference between extroverted and introverted students in relation to their English proficiency. The findings indicate that the significance value of the p-value is 0.005 (&lt;0.05). Therefore, the null hypothesis (H<sub>0</sub>) is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (H<sub>a</sub>) is accepted. The magnitude of the correlation is -0.440 which indicates that the correlation is a moderate negative (downhill) linear relationship. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskritif kualitatif. Subjek penelitian adalah 5 orang siswa kelas VIII Mts Al-Mujtahid Pontianak dengan katagori siswa rendah, sedang, dan tinggi. Pengelolah data yang dilakukan pada penelitian ini adalah dengan cara memberikan soal tes uraian kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa.&nbsp; Setelah pengumpulan data peneliti menganalisis hasil pengerjaan soal tes uraian kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa. Berdasarkan analisis data dapat disimpulkan bahwa kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa kelas VIII Mts Al-Mujtahid Pontianak hasil rata-ratanya 63,7. This present study aims to investigate the teachers’ perspectives on applying online teaching strategies during the online learning process. A case study was applied in this study and the data were obtained from an observation and a questionnaire that contains two sections including teachers’ teaching strategies in delivering material and providing assignments or projects during the online learning process. The findings show that teachers gave positive responses toward the use of their teaching strategies. In delivering the materials, they applied pre- teaching strategy by mentioning and explaining the topic of their learning material briefly, while-teaching strategies by providing supporting learning media and using interactive teaching strategies, and post-teaching strategies by giving feedback and review of learning materials. On the other hand, they used several strategies when giving assignments and projects to their students by providing individual group works, peer works, and group works. It is conducted in a private Junior High School in Surabaya. The data were obtained from students’ questionnaire, learning outcomes, and attendance. The result of students’ questionnaire is analyzed and categorized. If the result belongs to good or very good category, it can be considered as positive result. The result of students’ learning outcomes can be considered to be successful if it reaches classical completeness ≥ 80%, while the students’ activity can be seen from their attendance in learning.&nbsp; The findings show that most students give positive result towards online learning. The learning outcomes does not meet the standard – less than 80% of students who reached minimum completeness criteria. Salah satu karya sastra yang dapat memberikan nilai karakter kejujuran adalah dongeng. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan nilai kejujuran melalui dongeng pengantar tidur karya Klaudy Premas dalam pembelajaran bahasa Indonesia. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif dengan bentuk kualitatif. Data penelitian berupa kutipan yang mengandung sub fokus masalah. Sumber data yang digunakan adalah buku kumpulan dongeng pengantar tidur karya Klaudy Premas. Adapun alat yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah peneliti sendiri dibantu dengan kartu pencatat data. Sementara itu, teknik pengumpul data yang digunakan adalah teknik studi dokumenter dengan menggunakan teknik analisis isi berupa kajian isi. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diperoleh keistimewaan&nbsp; nilai karakter kejujuran yang dihadirkan dalam cerita dan dipresentasikan oleh tokoh-tokoh binatang yang menjadi tokoh utama. Penguatan pendidikan karakter kejujuran disajikan dalam cerita dongeng yang menarik dari aspek narasi dam ilustrasi sehingga berdampak terhadap kecintaan anak-anak terhadap dongeng sehingga dapat melakukan refleksi dengan menghubungkan isi cerita dengan nilai kejujuran. Penelitian ini dilakukan dalam satu semester. Metode dalam penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif. Subjek penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa kelas A Pagi semester 4. Sumber data dikumpulkan dari Mahasiswa. Teknik pengumpulan data adalah wawancara, angket, dan studi dokumen. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan analisis kritis. Hasil angket mahasiswa menunjukkan hasil 11,3% untuk tingkat kesukaran dalam pembelajaran, sehingga hasil untuk tingkat kemudahannya 88,7%, &nbsp;analisis data tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa tingkat kesukaran dalam penggunaan aplikasi Whatsapp terhadap proses pembelajaran daring rendah. The sample was selected using a purposeful sampling technique. The technique of data collection applied in this research were documentation, observation, and interview</em><em>. </em><em>Documentation was used to get data from the lesson plan. The observation was used to get data in the process of teaching and learning activities to know about the implementation of character education. </em><em>Meanwhile, </em><em>an</em><em> interview was conducted with English teachers </em><em>to get more information about teachers’ strategies in implementing character education. </em><em>Based on the results of documentation, observations, and interviews, it can be concluded that the English teacher has implemented character education. The method used is pre-experimental design, the research design used is one group pre-test post-test design. Based on the results of calculations using the t-test, the value of tcount is 21.07 and t table (ɑ = 5%, db = n-35 = 34) of 1.6905.
